Vaginal Odour?? What To Do About It?

Vaginal Odour is the odour that comes from your vagina. I know vagina is not supposed to smell like roses and strawberries but it should not have a pungent fishy smell either. If you’re suffering from vaginal odour then you should not delay seeing a gynaecologist because the main reason behind vaginal odour or bacterial vaginosis is an infection. This condition happens when your vagina’s pH balance gets disrupted so you need to maintain a healthy vaginal pH balance. There are other causes of a smelly vagina as well, like poor hygiene habits, eating strong-smelling foods, pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), sexually transmitted infection (STI), vaginal cancer, cervical cancer, and so on. So, you need to find out the root cause behind bad vaginal odour asap and for that visit a medical professional.

As I always say, prevention is better than cure so let me show you some tips to avoid vaginal odour.

Ditch Silk, Wear Cotton

As much as you love wearing your sexiest thong and silk panties, you should not make them a regular norm. For daily wear, always prefer soft cotton panties because they allow your vagina to breathe and prevent vaginal sweat.

Drink Water

You should drink water frequently so that the toxins from your body are flushed out. Your vagina will thank you!

Drink Turmeric Milk

Turmeric Milk is amazing for vaginitis. We all know the anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties so it can surely help with vaginal odour.

Clean Properly

If you do not maintain proper hygiene then you cannot avoid vaginal odour at any cost. I always prefer to clean my vagina with warm water while bathing and avoid antiseptic or chemical-laden soaps. I would also recommend you to not douche as it can interfere with the vaginal flora.

Change Your Sanitary Products On Time

During periods, you need to be more cautious about your vaginal hygiene so change your sanitary products frequently.

Always Use Protection For Multiple Partners

If you have more than one sexual partner then do not forget to use protection to prevent STIs and STDs.

Eat Curd

Probiotics will be your best friend! Eat curd which has probiotics to have a healthy vaginal pH balance.

Hope the above information helps. If you see no difference in your condition, consult a good gynaecologist without fail.

How To Deal With Menstrual Cramps

Menstrual cramps are common during menstruation. It is also called dysmenorrhea in medical terms. Menstrual cramps can be painful and discomforting. Many women complain to their gynaecologists about unpleasant menstrual cramps.

So, today, let’s discuss ways to deal with dysmenorrhea or menstrual cramps.

Stay hydrated

Hydration is important during menstruation because that’s the time when we suffer from bloating. So, drink plenty of water and other healthy fluids, like fruit juices, soups, and even herbal teas if you want.

Avoid certain foods

Certain foods can worsen your cramps. Avoid salty, fried, and fatty foods. It is also the time to reduce your caffeine intake, so say no to tea, coffee and other caffeinated drinks.

Apply heat

To get respite from abdominal and back pain, you should put a warm compress on the throbbing areas. You can buy an electronic heating pad from your local store or else make your own DIY heating pad by filling a sock with rice and heat it on a microwave.

Get massages

Tell your trusted family member or partner to give you a soothing massage on your back so that you get some sort of relief in your back pain. Either use a balm or an aromatherapy massaging oil for this purpose.

Take rest

Your body needs to rest during menstruation. Eight hours of sleep every night is a compulsory thing to do whether you have periods or not. During periods, you should also think of taking naps if possible. Being well-rested will help your body to get rid of excessive stress and cramps during menstruation.

Consider Vitamin supplement

The cramps during menstruation amplifies when the body lacks essential vitamins. Apart from eating a healthy and well-balanced diet, you can also ask your gynaecologist to prescribe you vitamin supplements so that your period cramps do not trouble or interfere with your daily activities.

Do exercises

Many exercises can help you to lessen the disturbing menstrual cramps. Do exercises you are comfortable with and avoid overexertion during your periods. Also, ask a medical professional before doing any sort of exercise.

If you constantly deal with menstrual cramps despite following the above-mentioned ways, then consult a good gynaecologist in Kolkata to find the underlying cause behind your painful periods.
